Transfield Waiouru operates a landfill and sewage treatment plant with treated outflows being released into a nearby stream. This requires freshwater biological monitoring (biomonitoring) to be undertaken upstream and downstream of discharge outlets.
Transfield Waiouru operates a landfill and sewage treatment plant for Waiouru Military Camp and settlement with treated outflows being released into a nearby stream. Conditions of Transfield's resource consents require freshwater biological monitoring (biomonitoring) to be undertaken upstream and downstream of the landfill and treatment plants discharge outlets.
Working closely with Transfield over the last six years, CPG have provided biomonitoring services at the site in order satisfy resource consent conditions.
Biomonitoring is used to assess the impact of the landfill and sewage treatment plant discharges on the stream. This work includes collection of freshwater invertebrates and periphyton, measurement of instream habitat characteristics and analysis and reporting of the information collected.
