CPG were engaged as structural engineers for the extensive redevelopment of two existing two storey brick and concrete accommodation buildings owned by the University of Otago.

The development required substantial modification of the existing structures to meet the clients brief of converting the existing two accommodation blocks into leading edge teaching facilities for the Otago University Medical School.  The brief included opening up the internal frontages of the existing buildings and linking the two buildings.

The structure utilised structural steel, insitu and pre-cast concrete for the floors and walls, timber and cold rolled steel for the roof and piles for the foundations.
