CPG were commissioned to investigate the options for improving safety along Middleton Road, Wellington, and to consult with the local residents.

In 2002, Wellington City Council (WCC) proposed to upgrade Middleton Road, the main alternative to SH1 collector route connecting Johnsonville and Tawa.  WCC planned the upgrade of the route as a comprehensive measure to reduce accidents over the entire road length of approximately 4km.

CPG were commissioned to investigate the options for improving safety along the route, and to consult with the local residents.  A key element of the project was to engage the local community during the project.  This involved creating "before and after" photographs of the proposed changes which were used for consultation.

A series of digital photographs were taken at critical points along the route, these images were then recreated showing the proposed treatment at each point, and the final appearance of the work.

The finished photographs were then incorporated into a presentation and displayed at a public meeting for local residents, with residents able to take away digital copies if required.
