ROADING / BRIDGING

CPG has designed over 3,000 bridges since 1946, ranging from modest structures on secondary roads and industrial premises, to significant bridges across major New Zealand rivers.
Most of the Company's other bridge design projects have involved replacement of old structures belonging to local government clients. Preliminary work often includes the annual examination and rating of substandard bridges, and advice to clients on priorities for bridge replacement programmes. Estimates and studies are also undertaken to justify bridge replacements and to support applications for funding.

Although modern bridges require very little maintenance, the Company's continuing engagement with long-term clients affords it the opportunity to review completed projects, and to monitor performance in times of flood as well as their ease of maintenance. This invaluable body of operating knowledge provides a useful basis for new design work.
